Code of conduct

• The students are self-required to abide by the principles of ethics and academic integrity and have their reports based solely on their own knowledge.
• The written materials are the result of the students' own activity, and they confirm they are neither giving, nor receiving unauthorized assistance for their work.
• All written reports with a similarity index of 30% or more will be rejected. This similarity index is composed of the Turnitin similarity index and the generative AI verbatim index as detailed below.

Use of generative AI

• According to the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, the following are unacceptable practices:
  • Plagiarism is using other people’s work or ideas without giving proper credit to the original source.
  • Hiding the use of AI or automated tools in the creation of content or drafting of publications.
• Therefore:
  • Students are allowed to use of AI or automated tools in the creation of content or drafting of publications.
  • Students are not allowed to hide the use of AI or automated tools in the creation of content or drafting of publications.
  • Students are not allowed to imply that the text generated by AI or automated tools and included in the reports is their own creation.
  • Students have to explicitly indicate the text generated by AI or automated tools and included in the reports, either as-is or in modified form. This will be added to the similarity index as outlined above.
• Consequently, all written documents sent by students will have a closing subsection after the introduction or after the references, with a statement, following one of these two options:

  Acknowledgement:
  This work is the result of my own activity, and I confirm I have neither given, nor received unauthorized assistance for this work.
  I declare that I did not use generative AI or automated tools in the creation of content or drafting of this document.

  All the text impacted by generative AI has been explicitely marked as such in this document.
  

• All written documents not satisfying these requirements will be rejected.

The usual email etiquette is observed

• All senders will completely identify themselves in any email sent: name, surname, specialization, year, course name. This is a sign of good behaviour: the sending party will not assume that the receving party will spend unnecessary time to investigate who, when, where, why, and so on.
• All messages sending attached files will completely identify the number of attachments and full name of each attachment. This is a sign of good behaviour: if the sending party does not acknowledge that s/he sent attached files, then the attached files are not acknowledged by the receiving party.
• All messages seding files as links will be deleted and the links will not be accessed. This is a sign of good behaviour: The sending party will not allow the receiving party to self register on any cloud platform as a person of interest to access the link.
• All messages with empty body will be deleted. This is a sign of good behaviour: A message with empty body has nothing to say. The sending party will not assume otherwise.

Email sending and timing rules

• The students shall send emails from official addresses only (i.e. @scs.ubbcluj.ro and @stud.ubbcluj.ro).
• The students shall send emails during normal business hours only (i.e. workdays during 8am-8pm).
• The teachers will not acknowledge any email sent from other addresses.
• The teachers will only communicate during normal business hours.
• The teachers will reply with normal time delays, as expected.
• The students are bound to accomodate these rules and set their email systems accordingly.
